Haynes® 25 filler metal is used for gas metal arc and gas tungsten arc welding of Haynes® 25 alloy. Deposition of this filler metal has excellent strength and corrosion resistance to a temperature of 1800°F and reasonably good resistance to wear and galling as well. The RTW finish on the spooled wires promotes smooth feeding through welding equipment and reduces tip wear on contact tips.
HAYNES 25 Filler Wire has good forming and welding properties. It may be forged or otherwise hot-worked up to a maximum temperature of 2200 Degree F provided it is steadily maintained at that temperature for a sufficient amount of time. The alloy is very ductile and can also be cold-worked. It does, however, work to harden rapidly, and frequent intermediate annealing treatments will be mandatory for complex component forming. It is stronger than nickel-base solid-solution strengthened alloys and the strongest cobalt-base material with superior manufacturing properties.
HAYNES 25 alloy combines qualities that make it appropriate for a variety of aircraft component applications, including components in proven military and commercial gas turbine engines. It has mostly been superseded in current engines by newer materials with greater qualities, such as HAYNES 188 alloy and, most recently, 230® alloy. Another important application for 25 alloys is as a bearing material, for both balls and races.
